Excellent experience from start to finish. They were professional, responsive, and transparent throughout the process. I needed to replace an older leaking water heater, and they took the time to evaluate everything on site, explain my options clearly, and answer all of my questions. I was out of town while trying to coordinate the project, and they were very accommodating with scheduling. They worked with my timeline and fit the installation in between two trips, which I really appreciated. The installation, done by Jim, was smooth and very well done. He upgraded me to a 50-gallon Bradford White unit at the same quoted price, installed a new expansion tank, shutoff valve, and pan, and handled the permit process as well. The workmanship was clean and professional, and the final result looks great. I also appreciated how respectful and easy to work with they were throughout the whole job. Highly recommend if you’re looking for honest, knowledgeable plumbers who do quality work and provide excellent customer service.

We had a main sewer line stoppage and needed help fast, and Dalmatian Plumbing absolutely delivered. They came out immediately, which was a huge relief given how urgent the situation was. The job involved clearing the blockage through the water closet, pulling and resetting the toilet, and running a sewer camera to fully diagnose the issue. Everything was handled efficiently and with real professionalism. They took the time to explain what was going on, showed us the camera results, and made sure the problem was completely resolved before wrapping up. What really stood out was their attention to detail and respect for our home. The toilet was reinstalled perfectly, everything was left clean, and there were no shortcuts taken. On top of that, their pricing was very fair for the amount of work involved, which made the whole experience even better. If you’re dealing with a tough plumbing issue and want someone reliable, knowledgeable, responsive, and reasonably priced, I highly recommend Dalmatian Plumbing. Great service from start to finish.

Replacing Your Water Heater Before It Fails

Choosing to replace your water heater proactively can prevent costly breakdowns and unexpected downtime. Several factors play a role in how long your unit lasts, including the type of system, the quality of your water, routine maintenance, and the installation process itself. Tankless water heaters generally last longer than traditional models, while hard water can shorten a unit's life by causing sediment buildup. Regular inspections and flushes help maintain efficiency, and a proper installation ensures the system performs at its best. If your water heater is aging or showing signs of wear, our team can evaluate its condition and recommend the right replacement option for your home.

Signs You Need A New Water Heater

Leaks Around the Tank

If your water heater is leaking, that is a clear sign that something is wrong. While small leaks can sometimes be repaired, a leak in the tank itself usually indicates that the metal has weakened and can no longer hold water effectively.

Rusty or Discolored Water

If the water from your taps is rusty or brown, it could be a sign of corrosion inside your water heater. Rust inside the water heater tank typically means it is deteriorating from the inside, which often leads to leaks.

Strange Noises

If your water heater makes loud banging, rumbling, or popping sounds, it's likely due to sediment buildup inside the tank. As the sediment is heated, it hardens and causes these noises, reducing the unit's efficiency. This can strain the water heater's components and eventually cause it to fail.

High Energy Bills

An aging or malfunctioning water heater often works harder to maintain water temperature, which leads to increased energy consumption. If you've noticed a sudden spike in your energy bills and your water heater is over 10 years old, it's likely becoming inefficient.

Inconsistent or No Hot Water

If your water fluctuates between hot and cold or does not get hot, it could be a sign that the heating elements or thermostats are failing. Sediment buildup in the tank can also cause the heating components to overwork, leading to a loss of efficiency.

Age of the Unit

Most water heaters are designed to last around 10-12 years. If your unit is approaching or exceeding this age, it will likely experience issues such as corrosion, inefficiency, or breakdowns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q What are the signs that my water heater needs repair or replacement?

A

There are several indicators that your water heater may need attention. Look out for rusty or discolored water, strange noises coming from the tank, a lack of hot water, or water leaking around the unit. If you notice any of these signs, it's best to contact a professional plumber to assess the situation.

Q How long do water heaters typically last?

A

The lifespan of a water heater can vary depending on the type of unit and maintenance. On average, traditional tank-style water heaters last around 8 to 12 years, while tankless water heaters can last up to 20 years. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can extend the life of your water heater.

Q Should I repair or replace my water heater?

A

The decision to repair or replace your water heater depends on the extent of the problem, the age of the unit, and the cost of repairs compared to a new installation. A professional plumber can evaluate the condition of your water heater and provide expert advice on the most cost-effective solution.

Q How can I maintain my water heater?

A

Regular maintenance is crucial to keep your water heater running efficiently. Flushing the tank annually to remove sediment buildup, checking the pressure relief valve, and inspecting the anode rod are some common maintenance tasks. It's also advisable to have a professional plumber perform a thorough inspection and maintenance service periodically.
